Glad you liked it. Yes, focus on one language first and then change to a different one. You can become confused if you study French and Spanish at the same time.

Yes, verlan is a big deal in France, especially among the younger generations.

In answer to your question, it has to do with the fact many people look down upon it, but they have to use it since it's become ingrained in the culture. In other words, it's not something they can eradicate as much as they'd like to. Some people love it, others hate it. Verlan is here to stay until who knows when.

Most definitely! When learning a language, we shouldn't only focus on the formal side. Each language has an informal side, and that's the one many people use. That's why language learners sometimes struggle to understand a language when they hear it. They only focus on the formal side.

I had the opportunity to learn french but i stucked with spanish and I will come back to learning french when I am done. I really enjoyed reading and learnt little from this as well. Hello there , what a piece of wonderful information you got here. This is very beneficial to really know what Verlan is, like this is the first time I am actually hearing of this. Knowing that it is a French word and that it is a slang makes it more interesting. That it refers to love and hate in relationships is really what I don’t understand, can you share more light??

I have always had a love of languages, and this touches on something that I've always found extremely important when learning a new language. Immersing yourself in the cultural parts of the language help bring the language to life, and things like slang are extremely important to that. I think this goes along with things like watching tv or listening to music in that other language, where exposing yourself to how its used in an everyday context improves your confidence when using the language, and also gives you some additional insight to the culture that the language belongs to. Great post, I look forward to learning this, and to reading more content here in general.
